CE Marking is not a new concept. In fact, it has been around for almost 50 years, and it's been made more important than ever with the surge in global manufacturing. Whether you are selling products in the EU or creating products for use within the 28 Member States of the European Union, your products must comply with all relevant FDA Registration.

CE marking, often marked with a CE logo, is a safety mark to alert consumers their products are made in the European Union and meet regulations. The regulation can be one of three: the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), the EMC Directive (EMC), or the R&TTE Directive (Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment). CE marking was introduced as a replacement for national marks in order to allow sector wide coordination of laws and regulations.


What is CE marking?

CE marking is a mandatory requirement for all products placed on the European market. CE marking means that the product complies with the applicable EU legislation.

CE marking is an abbreviation for "ConformitéEuropéene", which in French and Dutch means "European Conformity". It is not a certification mark but rather a declaration by the manufacturer that its product complies with all relevant directives that apply to it.

The CE marking must be affixed to most products sold in the EU that fall within the scope of one or more directives or regulations. The CE marking indicates that a product has been assessed by a Notified Body (NB) and meets all of the requirements of relevant European Directives and Regulations.

The Notified Body (NB) assesses whether or not a product satisfies all applicable Essential Requirements set out in European Union law and if so issues an EC Declaration of Conformity (DoC). This document certifies that a product meets all relevant Essential Requirements, thereby allowing its free circulation within the EEA (European Economic Area).
